It’s that time of year again. Tax season is now officially open there is no better time than the present to begin preparations in order to help to save some money and alleviate a good amount of aggravation.

There are many things that you can do in order to get ready. For example, the earlier you compile and organize the relevant paperwork, the easier things may be for you (or the tax preparer working for you). Consolidating receipts and charitable deductions in advance of meeting with your tax preparer can be very beneficial as well.

There are several questions that you may have or may encounter in anticipation of filing this year. For example:

  • How much documentation is needed?
  • How do you calculate cost basis for an investment?
  • What medical expenses are eligible for deductions?
  • Should you itemize or use the standard deduction?
